Happy, Happy Birthday!

I cant believe that this little baby…

thomas babyHas turned into this big boy!!

Thomas christmasI cant believe five years have passed so quickly.  I have learned so much in the years of being Thomas’ mommy.  He is such a special little boy and has already touched so many lives and hearts.  I can’t wait to see who he becomes as he gets older.  That said this birthday seems a little bittersweet to me.  I am so excited at the new experiences this year will bring,  T-ball and Kindergarten, new friends, but at the same time I’m a little sad that my baby REALLY isn’t a baby anymore, he’s not even a toddler, and soon won’t even be a preschooler, he’s a boy!

So, since his birthday is on the 20th, here’s a list of 20 things I love about Thomas…

1.  He is very loving.  He must tell me he loves me at least ten times a day and always wants another hug and kiss before I can leave.

2.  I never taught him to but he calls me Mama.  This may sound odd to you but I think it’s sweet.  To this day my own mom refers to her mom as Mama, I think it reminds me of a simpler time.

3.  He will eat almost anything as long as Dave is eating it too.  This includes goat, tongue, pickled asparagus…

4.  He has always been a good patient.  He sits nicely in the dentist’s chair, he never throws a fit about getting a shot at the doctor’s office, and as he has gotten older he is a great medicine taker.

5.  When he prays he always says how much he loves everyone he knows, this goes on for a LONG time.  If you encourage him to move on he’ll tell you he’s not done.

6.  He has a genuine love and very special relationship with his Auntie.

7.  He loves to sing in the car.

8.  He does not like messes.

9.  He tries to be a good big brother.

10.  If you call him Tom or Tommy he truly thinks you don’t know his name and he will introduce himself!  I taught him well, no nicknames in this house!!

11.  When I finally told him about Indy, after putting it off for several days, he looked at me and said, “I think that makes me want to cry”, and so he did.  After a few minutes he said, “For my birthday I just want my Auntie to have a new dog so she won’t be sad anymore”.

12.  He remembers EVERYTHING.

13.  He has a great imagination and can play by himself with his “guys” for hours making up all kinds of games and stories.

14.  He loves to be read to and can remember how a story goes and even remember lots of the words after only hearing a book once.

15.  He loves to spend time with family.

16.  When he goes to bed he always makes sure that his stuffed animal’s heads are out of the blankets because “they need to breathe too”.

17.  He’s not a huge fan of anything sweet.  I love that we never have to fight about wanting candy in line at the grocery store or wanting cookies before bed!

18.  He really likes learning and when he finds a subject he is interested in the questions just keep coming!

19.  He can skip really well, which doesn’t come easily to everyone in our family!

20.  No matter how many times to remind him that the dog’s name is Pismo he still calls her “Kismo”.

I love this little boy so much!

Happy 5th Birthday, Thomas!
